London : City of Dreams

In February of 2017 I spent my half-term break in London, England. It was my first trip to England since i moved to Ireland after i was born. It was still winter and so the air was crisp and everyone had to wear coats, hats, and gloves, but it was the perfect weather for a week in "The Big Smoke".

There is so much to see and do in London as it is massive and full of historic sites and buildings. London is known for its magnificent buildings and architechture, but also for its history and vibrant culture, some might also say it is the real "City of Love".

My family and i stayed in The DoubleTree hotel in Angel King's Cross. The location was perfect as it was only a short walk around the corner to the London Underground station, meaning we had the whole city right outside our door.

We spent the week sightseeing and visited many attractions including the London Eye, Big Ben and the London Dungeons. I personally really enjoyed the Dungeon tour as it was very interesting and it made learning about history exciting. It is a scare attraction including 2 underground rides, cutting-edge storytelling and teaching of 1000 years of british history. It is a very enjoyable experience and included a free drink at the end. Its the perfect attraction for a rainy day for all the family.

Of course we also had to take a trip to the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden. The studio tour is the perfect attraction for all the die-hard Harry Potter fans. The studio tour includes a look into the making of the films such as costumes, set designs, and two soundstages and a backlot full of props. It also gives visitors a look at how the magical creatures of the wizarding world were brought to life, the special and visual effects used in the films, and the art department with tons of technical drawings and scale models which created all of our favourite sets. You can even board the Hogwarts Express, try a Butterbeer, and buy all the sweets off the trolly at the giftshop!
